PRAYING MADE ME CATHOLIC: WITH THE BIBLICAL & HISTORICAL REASON WHY I MUST REMAIN CATHOLIC

PRESS RELEASE:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 2014
LIGHT OF CHRIST PRESS – Justin S. Steele, M.T.S., is the latest convert in a growing trend of the last two decades to publish an inspirational account of his spiritual and intellectual journey from Protestantism into the Catholic Church. The difference, however, is the inspirational story of his Saint Augustine-like conversion. His book is titled Praying Made Me Catholic: With the Biblical & Historical Reasons Why I Must Remain Catholic. $14.95.
In spite of having been raised as a good Protestant, Steele confesses to having allowed worldly peer pressure to lead him into a teenage rebellion of “sex, drugs, and gangsta rap.” He had been raised with strong Seventh-day Adventist influences, a Protestant sect with a highly anti-Catholic theology. And so the Catholic Church was nowhere on his radar. Yet, the key reason Steele became Catholic, as the title poignantly describes, was due to a series of answered prayers that brought him directly into the RCIA program to receive the Sacraments of Initiation and study the Catholic Faith for a full spiritual and intellectual conversion.
Praying Made Me Catholic First Pages
Praying Made Me Catholic is divided into 8 chapters of narrative conversion and 3 chapters of apologetics. The first 8 describe the movements of the Holy Spirit in Steele’s life and how he learned classical principles of biblical interpretation and Church history. The 3 chapters of core apologetics focus on what Steele calls the “Christian Controversies.” They are Christian history, Christian authority, and Christian spirituality. Here, Steele’s story transitions from a spiritual Holy Spirit-guided narrative into intellectual reasons why the Holy Spirit had guided him into the “original Church.” Steele closes the book with an Afterword on how he has since reconnected with anti-Catholic Seventh-day Adventist family.
Steele’s first intention is to illustrate how it was not of his own initiative, but rather, answered prayers that God used to guide him into the Catholic Church. Yet, he cites many other converts who God has led down the same path. He then explains why Christians became so divided since the Protestant Reformation and how things went wrong in order to reveal a path toward unity. In all this, readers gain the insight to the major reasons why Protestants become Catholic and how Catholics can assist others to follow that path toward Christian unity. The book also serves as an inspirational and smart resource to teach Catholic teens why they need to remain Catholic.
